The LIAAC Blog

News and thoughts from the Long Island Association for AIDS Care

by Dr. Gail Barouh

As I begin what I hope will be the first of many posts, I’d like to welcome our friends, clients, partners, Long Island neighbors, and guests to our new LIAAC blog. It will be a place where we will share good news about what we’re doing at LIAAC – and there is much to share – as well as important resources and medical news for our community.

Many people don’t realize that the Long Island Association for AIDS Care was the nation’s LIAAC's 25th Anniversaryfirst suburban-based AIDS service organization and is still the largest. And LIAAC is the only community service provider (CSP) designated by the New York State Department of Health for Nassau and Suffolk Counties. We take that role in the Long Island community very seriously and are proud that our field-based model makes it possible to bring compassionate, caring mobile care to our neighbors living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic infectious diseases. We are also very proud of some of our other services – more about our food pantry later! – and hope that this blog will provide a chance for you to get to know us, our staff, and our services.

So welcome, and please check back frequently.
